My Favorite Teacups

If I had unlimited space (and unlimited funds!), my tea cabinet's shelves would contain every one of these. I'd have Lenox, Mikasa and Royal Doulton, a goodly array of Wedgwood. There'd be a shelf side dedicated to Monique Lhuiluer's Atelier teacups for afternoons, and Wedgwood Dynasty Imperial teacups for early evenings when we're in an 'East meets West' mood.

I'd reserve a quartet of Wedgwood Renaissance for the time when I learn to play Bridge, and a quartet of Wedgwood Ulander for the time when I want to keep things a bit more formal. The Mikasa Takaya teacups will come out when it's time to taste test a brand new tea.

The Johnson Brothers Willow will come out when I'm feeling nostalgic for childhood parties. I remember a set of Blue Willow in a rather flimsy cardboard box that was brought out for tea parties in the playroom. I was five years old at the time, but I recall them vividly. I wonder how many survived the 54 years between then and now - or where the survivors might be.

The Wedgwood Black Astbury will be on the most protected shelf of all but brought out on the rarest of occasions, I'm afraid, but it will be brought out freely and gladly any time my sisters visit.
